Overview
Phlebitis is an inflammation or small clot of the superficial veins, which can cause irritation. Although phlebitis isn’t a life-threatening condition, if the diagnosis and treatment is delayed, the clot from the superficial veins can extend into the deep vein system resulting in a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), which can potentially be life threatening.
